Rooguard – High frequency farm protection
The 21st century fence, Rooguard is the 21st century answer to the age old problem of wildlife crop damage.
The Rooguard works by emitting a high frequency sound that deters wild animals from entering a crop. The Rooguard also changes sound pressure levels 40 times a minute and this physically hurts the wild animal and they soon work that the further away they move the more the pain decreases.
Humane and practical crop protection
Rooguard is the most humane and practical way to keep wild animals away. The sound creates a pattern 30-40m deep and 330m wide, which means animals cannot go over or through the sound pattern.
The Rooguard can be set up using a variety of power supplies. It is supplied with a plug pack to plug into normal 240 volt power points or battery clips to hook up to a battery. Also a solar panel and battery can be used to allow the unit to be put in remote areas.
A light sensor ensures the unit starts and stops at the appropriate time. With a larger solar panel it is even possible to run the units 24 hours a day.
Is it tested?
The initial testing was conducted under the auspices of The Queensland Grain Growers Association. Rooguards were placed in paddocks. With a 40 year history of severe damage and wildlife, infestation of these crops was eliminated immediately. In a heavy drought situation near Griffith, NSW, Australia, thousands of Kangaroos were swimming the Murrumbidgee River to get to irrigated fodder crops. A 3 kilometer Rooguard System was installed and was so successful that shooting was no longer necessary.
With traditional control measures such as electric fences and intensive shooting being expensive, time consuming as well as increasingly ineffective the RooGuard system offers a cost effective means of protecting crops.
Location is important to allow the RooGuard to function 100%. We need to know the layout of the land and if the units can be placed in such a way that they have 25 - 30 metres of clear area in front of them.
